Up Time Monitoring Service Protocols

Monitoring
Protocols :
Dns monitoring - The Domain Name System more often referred to as
DNS is run by Name Servers or Domain Name Servers, also referred to
as Dns, resolve your URL (
www.globalwebmonitor.com ) to an IP address (124.123.1234 ). If
your Name Servers are down your address cannot be resolved and your
website will not be found and can take as long as 48 hours to
propagate your IP address through the name servers on the internet.
If your website is outsourced you will have to get the Dns address
from your hosting company.
Basic HTTP monitoring - Most commonly monitored item is used to
monitor web pages.
Basic HTTPS monitoring - Monitor secure web pages
Ping - Monitors network appliances and servers.
Essential tool for testing the integrity of network appliances like
firewalls, NIC cards and routers.
IMAP monitoring - Internet Message Access Protocol used for email
retrieval on a remote server from a local client. Similar to POP3
useful for mail servers critical to your business. IMAP and POP3 are
the most common mail protocols used today
Full page URL HTTP/S monitoring - Used to monitor web pages for
unauthorized changes and has the capability to check for authorized
and unauthorized keywords and key phrases in your web pages.
Nttp
SMTP monitoring - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol monitoring allows
you to monitor the server your business uses to send email.
POP3 monitoring - Post Office Protocol v3 application layer Internet
standard protocol and uses a TCP/IP connection to retrieve email
from a remote server to a local client. Monitoring allows you to
minimize loss of email messages because of downtime.
Telnet monitoring - Monitors telnet servers.
Port check - Port monitoring is useful when checking dependencies
for your network appliances and servers and when allowing remote
access to your servers.
A listing of
standard port numbers can be found at the IANA website.
Port security check - Our port security check is the first of its
kind in the website monitoring industry and is a great way to detect
ports that should be closed all of the time at your business or you
can schedule port monitoring to detect open ports that should be
closed during off hours. You can also use it to detect if a Trojan
horse or careless employee has opened a port that should be closed.
A
listing of Trojan Horses and the ports they use can be found at the
Sys-Security Group website.
